What is Family Therapy?

Family is an often over looked, but incredibly vital part of the therapy and healing process. While the majority of work can be done on an individual level, the family provides the primary support to an individual and can sometimes help or hurt the process. Family dynamics also play a substantial role in one’s mental health and at times need to be addressed before progress is allowed in individual therapy. During family therapy, a therapist will meet with either the entire family or parts of the family that are required and help build appropriate communication, navigate conflict, build support, and help repair unhealthy dynamics. Especially when children are involved, family therapy can also help build structure in the home and family life, to create the healthiest environment possible for all people involved.

TeleHealth At Home Counseling and Psychotherapy

Telehealth, or “teletherapy” is a highly effective method of accessing care that is particularly useful for people in remote work positions, those with transportation issues or for those that live a significant distance from a provider they would like to see. Managing a family is hard and multiple schedules can complicate things. Telehealth takes some of those obstacles off the table and can still create an effective and therapeutic environment. It also may allow people who live further away to participate in the sessions that they would not be able to otherwise, such as the child who is on the other side of the state at college. Telehealth comprises approximately 60% of the care delivered by The LodeStone Center and we utilize one of the easiest to access and highest quality platforms for our telehealth calls (Zoom for Healthcare). It’s easy to use, secure and available on any computer, tablet or phone. Psychotherapy, counseling and medication management are all accessible through our telehealth option, and every provider at The LodeStone Center is available through telehealth. Our registration process is entirely online, and many services are available within a few days.
