What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is something that you have undoubtedly heard about in some capacity in recent years. It sounds like a nice idea, but what is it? Mindfulness is not a technique, it is a way of being. It is a way of being that involves awareness of all that is happening in the present moment without judgment. It is a way of slowing down the fastness of life and experiencing each moment. By living in a mindful way, life becomes fuller and richer. We stop separating things into categories of “bad” and “good” or into things that we dread and things that we enjoy, and we simply appreciate all of it as being a part of life.
What is Mindfulness Based Therapy
We can integrate mindfulness work into psychotherapy in a few different ways. One is by teaching mindfulness skills and techniques in session, or by informing you on how you might use mindfulness in your life outside of therapy. Another is by using those skills in the psychotherapy session, maximizing its effectiveness by improving self-awareness and focus in the moment. One of the many benefits of mindfulness is that it is tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

Telehealth, or “teletherapy” is a highly effective method of accessing care that is particularly useful for people in remote work positions, those with transportation issues or for those that live a significant distance from a provider they would like to see. Mindfulness is best when the environment is comfortable. If you have a spot in your house or outside that is where you feel most able to engage, mindfulness therapy via telehealth is for you. We encourage you to create an environment where you feel safe, comfortable, able to be in the moment and have an adequate amount of privacy. In this way, mindfulness therapy through telehealth is an exceptionally successful way to engage in therapy. Telehealth comprises approximately 60% of the care delivered by The LodeStone Center and we utilize one of the easiest to access and highest quality platforms for our telehealth calls (Zoom for Healthcare). It’s easy to use, secure and available on any computer, tablet or phone. Psychotherapy, counseling and medication management are all accessible through our telehealth option, and every provider at The LodeStone Center is available through telehealth. Our registration process is entirely online, and many services are available within a few days.
