Therapy Style:
Dr. Bidwell tends to begin from a very practical and problem-solving orientation in therapy to reduce the impact of the things that can be changed right away. Some symptoms can be addressed in a short period of time (like insomnia) and others require a long-term focus (such as mending troubling relationships). He feels he is able to be very directive in therapy when it will benefit the goals of his clients, and can be very non-directive and empathic when what is most needed is a supportive environment to explore one’s difficulties. Dr. Bidwell also works well in balancing pharmacologic approaches with behavioral interventions, and works with numerous therapists to help integrate medication management into the psychotherapy work with clients.
