The nutritional status of women when becoming pregnant, during pregnancy, and after birth can have significant influence on fetal, infant, and maternal health outcomes. Nutrition counseling focuses on enhancing the quality of the diet, by educating which foods and what quantities individuals need to consume in order to achieve optimal dietary intake.

Nutrition Counseling and Pregnancy:

Nutritional Counseling goes beyond assisting normal pregnancies, it can help women who have developed gestational diabetes (GDM), as well as work with women who struggle with infertility issues that maybe related to nutrition, such as PCOS, hormone imbalances, and weight concerns.

After pregnancy, concerns over babies’ nutrient needs through feeding, whether breastfeeding or formula, are common reasons to seek nutrition services.  If a mother chooses to breastfeed, our dietitian can help women make sure they are balancing their own nutrients and fluids for their energy requirements as well as their growing newborns.
