Alexis Ortiz, Psy.D.

Psychology Postdoctoral Resident

Biography

Dr. Alexis Ortiz (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Fellow who earned her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) from Roosevelt University with a concentration in children and families.

Therapeutic Focus & Approach

Dr. Ortiz specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, trauma-related concerns, life transitions, and neurodevelopmental differences. She partners with parents and caregivers to support healthy development, improve parent-child relationships, enhance communication, and address behavioral challenges through evidence-based strategies. She is passionate about helping individuals build insight, develop effective coping strategies, and strengthen resilience.

Dr. Ortiz provides individual, family, and parent-focused therapy virtually and in-person using a collaborative, strengths-based, and individualized approach. She draws from Family Systems Therapy, Play Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs, goals, and circumstances.

In addition to therapy services, Dr. Ortiz provides comprehensive psychological evaluations across the lifespan. Evaluations aim to assist with diagnostic clarification, identify individual strengths and areas of growth, and guide personalized treatment and support recommendations.
