Biography
Dr. Ruba Hamed is a Postdoctoral Fellow who earned her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in School Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. With training spanning both clinical and school settings, Dr. Hamed has an understanding of psychological, developmental, and educational systems. She has extensive experience in psychoeducational assessment and special education, as well as a strong understanding of educational law.
Therapeutic Focus & Approach
Dr. Hamed’s clinical practice is primarily focused on comprehensive psychological and diagnostic evaluation across childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. She has particular experience assessing autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, anxiety and mood disorders, and other psychological, developmental, and neurodevelopmental conditions. Her approach to assessment emphasizes developing a comprehensive understanding of each individual’s cognitive, academic, emotional, behavioral, and developmental functioning and translating findings into clear, practical recommendations.
In addition to assessment, Dr. Hamed provides therapeutic support to children and adolescents experiencing emotional, behavioral, and developmental concerns. Her approach is individualized and informed by evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and somatic-based interventions.
Dr. Hamed values a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to care and recognizes that meaningful support often extends beyond the individual. She places a strong emphasis on parent support and consultation and, when appropriate, collaboration with schools, medical providers, therapists, and other professionals involved in a client’s care. Her approach is compassionate, strengths-based, and grounded in helping clients and families develop a clearer understanding of their needs.
