What Does Anxiety Treatment Focus On?
The goal of therapy when treating anxiety is simple: to reduce the symptoms and discomfort and to improve your quality of life. We recognize that finding a therapist that is the right match for you is one of the most important factors in successful therapy and therefore start the process off by mutual relationship and trust building. From there, the focus shifts to your emotions, thoughts, and skill building. The approach is tailored to your individual needs, as well as the type of anxiety you are experiencing. Step by step, symptoms will be targeted and minimized, decreasing your distress.
What Is An Anxiety Disorder?
Anxiety is complex, and involves an interaction between the brain and the body. Hormones and mechanisms in the body can trigger thought patterns that are experienced as anxiety. Meaning, the way that we think and interpret our surroundings can also trigger responses in the body that make us experience physical symptoms. This interaction between the brain and the body sometimes results in a cycle that is very difficult to break without help, which is where therapy and sometimes medication come in.
Some signs and symptoms of Anxiety are:
- Physical symptoms: rapid heart rate, trembling, sweating, upset stomach
- Repetitive thoughts that involve worry or fear
- Insomnia or other sleep difficulties
- Fear of dying
- Avoidance of people or places due to fear
- Chronic worry over several areas of one’s life
TeleHealth At Home Counseling and Psychotherapy
Telehealth, or “teletherapy” is a highly effective method of accessing care that is particularly useful for people in remote work positions, those with transportation issues or for those that live a significant distance from a provider they would like to see. Telehealth comprises approximately 60% of the care delivered by The LodeStone Center and we utilize one of the easiest to access and highest quality platforms for our telehealth calls (Zoom for Healthcare). It’s easy to use, secure and available on any computer, tablet or phone. Psychotherapy, counseling and medication management are all accessible through our telehealth option, and every provider at The LodeStone Center is available through telehealth. Our registration process is entirely online, and many services are available within a few days.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding therapy for anxiety, please don’t hesitate to call and speak with one of our therapists. We are happy to answer questions, help look into your insurance benefits, or explain how counseling might be beneficial to you.
